Lynda.com Online Computer Training Review

If you’re like me, staying up on software upgrades is a constant challenge.  It seems that as soon as we get the hang of working with a computer program, they upgrade the software and impose a new learning curve for us.  The positive side of this is that there are always really cool features in an upgrade but the downside is you have to figure out how to use it.
A friend of mine showed me this website, lynda.com and I am really excited  about what it has to offer so thought I would share with you.

Basically, lynda.com is an online training library for just about any commercial software product out there.   The way it works is you logon to the site and choose the software you want to learn and then it pulls up all of these training modules for that software.  The really cool thing is that it breaks each module up into bite size training moments that are just a few minutes long and lets you go through the tutorial.  So for example, if you are in a hurry and just want to figure out how to sort data in a Word document, you can go to that specific module and watch the tutorial for a few minutes and learn it very quickly!

What I love about it is I don’t have to sit through hours of information that either I don’t need or already know to get to the piece of information I am interested in.

The advantages of this is access anytime, anywhere, the instruction is clear and concise and it has over 725 courses which translates into 42,000 different tutorials.  It allows you to learn at your own pace so if you go through an exercise and are not completely comfortable, you can rewind and do it again!

Some of the programs you can learn are:

  • Digital Photography
  • Web Design
  • Web Development
  • Audio
  • Motion Graphics
  • Adobe
  • Photoshop
  • Microsoft Office
  • Illustrator
  • Apple
  • Creative Inspirations
  • 3D Graphics
  • Dreamweaver
  • ActionScript
  • Final Cut Pro

As with anything there is a fee for use and many levels of memberships from individual to multiuse corporate membership.

My personal experience was awesome!  It is really dummied down for those of us who need tiny, easy to understand instruction.

Try it out and let me know what you think!
